JuneTeenth
Juneteenth celebrates the signing of the historic Emancipation Proclamation by Abraham Lincoln. Many slaves had what is know as Watch Night as they anticipated the announcement on January 1, 1863 that they were free from the servitude of slavery. The slaves in Galveston Texas were the last slaves to be informed that they were free on June 19, 1865. Juneteenth signifies the notion that “no one was free until we were all free.” June 19th is African Americans Independence Day. We host this event once a year. Please stay tuned for further details TBA.
Back To School
AAMOU believes that not affording school supplies shouldn’t be a hindrance for students to participate and be fully engaged in education. To that end, low-income students receiving free or reduced lunch will receive a backpack, pencils, paper, binder, glue stick, scissors and etc.. Each packet of supplies will be age appropriate k-12th grade. We host this event once a year. Please stay tuned for further details TBA.
